Good Questions to Know and Ask Your Auto Body Repair Specialist Before You Have any Work Done:

• Ask the body shop if they give free estimates and also if they give you a full damage report. The body shop you decide to do business with should not only be glad to furnish you with a free estimate, they should also take the time to walk you through and give you a full damage report of your vehicle. They should also take the time and tell you the steps they will take to return your automobile back in the shape it was in before the accident                                         
  

• Ask the body shop how long the company has been in business and if they have experienced body repairman. The longer the company has been around the more successful the company should be. The company should be able to handle the work in a timely matter and be able to handle any problems that may arise in the future from any previous work.

• Find out if the body shop is a member of the Better Business Bureau or any other organizations. It may be a good idea to check and ask what the Better Business Bureau has to say about the body shop you are deciding to use.

• What type of guarantee do you offer with any repair your shop handles?  The quality shops will offer warranties for there workmanship, parts and paint. They will be more than happy to take care of your needs and make you a happy and satisfied customer, before the automobile leaves their shop.

• Do you use factory replacement parts or do you use after market parts. The shop should tell you if they are using factory replacement parts or if they will be using after market products. You should have the option of what parts they will be using and told this up front.

• Do you provide a rental car or will you help getting one? If you need a rental car while your automobile is being repaired, ask if the shop will help with the process and reservation for the rental car. Most body shops have rental companies they have been doing business with and in many cases may be able to save you money by negotiating with them to take what your insurance company is willing to pay.

• Does your company deal directly with the insurance company and takes care of all the paperwork? The body shop should have a good working relationship with all the insurance companies and should be able to handle all the paperwork for you. If there are any repair supplements the body shop should handle them through the insurance company. The shop should make this as painless as they can for their customer.

• Who will be the person that will stay in contact with me through the whole repair process? The body shop should have one person to be able to handle any problems that may occur or to keep you informed of the progress of the repairs.
